Antiques at the Gardens
Returning to my hometown for Birmingham’s Antiques at the Gardens was a full circle moment. For the 2019 show, we were invited to design a space that showcased the exceptional quality of the show’s dealers while reflecting my own design philosophy. We set out to conjure the feeling of a cozy, scholarly study -- a small but high-impact environment that felt like it had been layered over a lifetime. It was an honor to support the mission of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

We wanted this booth to feel like more than just a display; we wanted it to feel like a destination. By leaning into the atmosphere of a traditional study, we focused on create a sense of intimacy within the larger show environment. The goal was to invite visitors to linger and appreciate the textures, history, and craftsmanship of the pieces we curated.

The magic of Antiques at the Gardens is the incredible access to dealers from across the country. For our space, we selected pieces that felt collected rather than decorated, emphasizing the "soul" of each antiquity. By layering fine art, vintage textiles, and period furniture, we illustrated how historical pieces can feel entirely relevant in a modern, tailored setting.

Designing for the Birmingham Botanical Gardens was particularly meaningful to me. As a Birmingham native, I’ve long admired the Friends of the Gardens and their work to protect and share the grounds.
